Today, a sporting event took place ont the Thames : the aviron’s race, opposing two famous English universities, which are Oxford and Cambridge. One of my flatmates told me that this race is very important in England. I asked him who he supported, because he’s living in Oxford now, but he comes from Cambridge. He didn’t know which was his favourite team. Anyway, Oxford won ! Even if I don’t care so much, I can say that I support Oxford, as I live there for the year. And I want to mention that for the first time, a French guy belonged to the team of Oxford, and he occupied the stroke seat’s post, which role is to define the rate.
This aviron’s race takes place every year since 1829. Oxford won that year, but Cambridge has the biggest amount of victories.
As I am in Oxford now, I thought I had the responsibility to inform you about that important event for the English people. ;)
This morning, I received a card to vote for the elections of the English local government. I was quite surprised, all the more that I haven't the English nationality. Strange... It has maybe something to do with some laws of the European Union. I will of course not vote, because I don't know a lot about the English local policy. I speak about that because that's not common to have the right to vote in France AND in England.
